  • What is Kinesiology?
Kinesiology is the science of human movement, performance and function. Kinesiologists are healthcare professionals with expert knowledge of the role your body mechanics play in preventing and managing injury, chronic disease, disability, and overall performance.
  • How can a Kinesiologist help me?
Kinesiologists uses an evidence-based active treatment model to correct body mechanics and restore mobility to injured areas. We help with injuries to joints, soft tissue sprains and strains, post-operative rehabilitation, and post-concussion management. This includes back and neck pain, knee and ankle pain, shoulder dysfunction, and concussion and balance issues. Kinesiologists also focus on health promotion, ergonomics, fitness training, and return to work strategies.
  • Am I approved for Active Rehab?
Individuals injured in a motor vehicle accident (at-fault or not) are pre-approved for 12 Active Rehab sessions with a Kinesiologist within the first 12 weeks of their date of MVA. After the 12 weeks, approval for further treatment will be required from your ICBC Claims Specialist. Our team will be happy to help you with this process. Please contact us and provide us with your ICBC Claim # and your Date of Birth so we can help you get started.
  • When can I expect to see results after my treatment?
Everyone is different and results vary based on an individual's age, lifestyle, understanding of exercising and pain, etc. It can also vary depending on the type and degree of your condition. Many patients notice an improvement as early as their initial appointment and see significant results when they combine their home exercises with regular appointments. A Treatment Plan and anticipated time-frame on recovery will be provided to you by our Kinesiologist at the time of your assessment.
  • Do I need a doctor’s referral?
While you are not required to bring a doctor’s referral for Kinesiology, some extended health insurance plans may need one for coverage. If you were injured as a result of a motor vehicle accident (ICBC) and it has been greater than 12 weeks, we recommend obtaining a doctor's note to request for funding.
  • How should I prepare for my first appointment?
Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment to fill out a new patient form and to make the most of your session. Please bring the following: Carecard number Comfortable clothing ICBC patients – claim number and adjuster’s name
